Snuggle Buddy

When this big guy became my best snuggle buddy 10 years ago, I had no idea that we’d one day be traveling full time together and sharing an 80 sqft living space. That we’d be together nearly all day, every day. That his hair and his drool and his dirt and his love would pretty much cover every square inch of my tiny home and most certainly every inch of my heart. Chewy is my ride or die, is always ready to ramble, and never runs out of sloppy kisses.

Having a dog in tow, especially a giant one, adds an entire other level of logistics for planning any adventure, and any time away from the van for more than a few hours requires making sure it stays cool enough inside, ensuring well meaning passersby don’t think he needs help, and sometimes means finding an overnight sitter in areas where I don’t know anyone. It means making sure we go on walks a few times a day, that I always take poop bags any time we leave the van, and that I always park somewhere that gives him room to get out of the van and explore a bit.

Is it easy living in a van and adventuring full time with this guy in my life? Definitely not. Is it worth it? Without a doubt.
